Pharmacy Business for SaleThe company for sale is a successful wholesale distributor and retailer of pharmaceutical products, it was founded in 1992 and more than a quarter-century ago. During this time, the business has been run by the same family, who have built an extensive network amongst wholesale clients in Malaysia and an enviable reputation as a pharmacy with a loyal customer base in Sarawak. The pharmacy houses between one to two thousand product lines and provides products to around six hundred retailers and customers.
The pharmacy has exclusive and major (though non-exclusive) agreements with manufacturers and a number of major product lines for the supply and distribution of pharmaceutical products in Sarawak. Currently, the business has 16 employees who would remain with the company through the transition to a new owner, and current management who are willing to assist the buyer to ensure a smooth and successful transition of the business.
The business is very successful and has steadily increased in both market share and revenue. In the 2018 financial year the business had revenue of approximately RM 11.5 million and expects growth to continue at 10% per annum. Profit margins on sales are around 13%, and current overhead expenses (not including owners’ compensation) are around RM 795,000. This amounts to an income for the owner operator in 2018 in the region of RM 704,000.
Support will be provided by the current owners to the buyer to ensure a smooth transition. The existing operators will also provide as much support as possible to ensure the buyers have an opportunity to purchase not just the business but also the real estate which is valuable, centrally located and expected to grow in value with the business. This provides the potential buyer with a unique opportunity to have a significant presence in both the wholesale and the high-margin retail market simultaneously.
The purchase price of the business is RM 5 million (including existing inventory of approximately RM 3 million). For the real estate (valued at RM 1.8 million), the buyer will be offered very attractive long term lease arrangements; alternatively, the buyer has the option of buying the real estate together with the business.
